Transparency and export as GIF. Since your background is a gradient,
this won't be easy--you may have to experiment with different yellows
until you find a matte color that's not too problematic.

Lanny,
I did something very similar to your suggestion after thinking about it over
dinner. Basically, I chose a canvas color that works well (*very* light
yellow), picked it as the [index] transparent color, and exported as a GIF.
Worked like a charm!

the two methods would be identical. Your solution would have problems,
though, if the same yellow were used in the foreground--you'd get
transparency "pinholes."
