Need script for importing multi-page PDF's for CS2
I know that you can load multi-page PDF's into CS2's place marker.. but I had this script for 2.0 and CS that would allow me to choose a PDF and tell it where to place it on the page.. and then I create an ID doc that was as long as the PDF and drop it in and it would just place each page of the PDF onto the page it needed to go on in Indesign.. I cant seem to find that script in my computer.. anybody know what its called? Thanks,
Chris

Re: Need script for importing multi-page PDF's for CS2
Hi Chris,
Try PlaceMultipagePDF.jsx--it's part of the set of example scripts that came with CS2. You can find them in a downloadable zip archive at:
<http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/xml_scripting.html>
Standard script instructions: After you've downloaded and uncompressed the archive, move the contents of the JavaScript folder to the Scripts folder inside the Presets folder in your InDesign folder. At this point, the scripts will appear in the Scripts palette (Window>Automation>Scripts). To run a script, double-click the script name in the Scripts palette.
Thanks,
Ole

Is there a similar set of sample scripts still available for the older
ID version?

Re: Need script for importing multi-page PDF's for CS2
Hi Martin,
I'm pretty sure that the PlaceMultipagePDF.jsx script will work in CS if you change the file extension from .jsx to .js. This should be true for most of the other scripts.
CS came with a set of example scripts on the installation CDs--but that set didn't include this script.
Thanks,
Ole

I wasn't after that particular script, but more generally interested in
scripting ID.
Sure enough I didn't think of checking the install CD, doh!

Re: Need script for importing multi-page PDF's for CS2
Martin:
I'd refer you to the Adobe Studio Exchange <http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm#loc=en_us&view=sn100&viewName=Adobe%20Ex change&avm=1>, where users have generously shared many useful scripts and other utilities they have created.
Unfortunately, the Studio Exchange site has been rendered almost useless by a recent redesign. The conversion from HTML to Flash + ColdFusion has yielded glacially slow performance, tiny previews, a loss of user reviews and other important information, and many irate users <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.ef32d01/>.
You may still be able to find a multipage PDF import script somewhere in there. I know there used to be several different versions before the redesign.

I admit that browsing Adobe's site nowadays has made me wonder who> Unfortunately, the Studio Exchange site has been rendered almost useless by a

Re: Need script for importing multi-page PDF's for CS2
Gang--
I'd note that I do not post scripts to Adobe Studio Exchange--for the above and other reasons (long story...). There's no point going there to look for the "official" example scripts. I did try posting a few there, but they're now long out of date and should not be used.
There are also lots of useful scripts in the InDesign scripting forum--yours for a simple copy/paste/save operation (no actual scripting knowledge required!).
Thanks,
Ole
