Need to add OS9 boot capability to X.2.6 - Mac Applications & Software

Okay, I was a goofball. I decided that I'd never need Classic again, and when I rebuilt my system a year ago, I formatted my drive without putting in the support to boot OS9 CDs on my 400MHz TiBook. Now I've found an app that I _need_ to run, and it only works in Classic. No problem, I thought, I'd just go back and install 9.1 and I'd be good to go. Okay, I was a goofball. I decided that I'd never need Classic again,
and when I rebuilt my system a year ago, I formatted my drive without
putting in the support to boot OS9 CDs on my 400MHz TiBook.

Now I've found an app that I _need_ to run, and it only works in
    Classic.

No problem, I thought, I'd just go back and install 9.1 and I'd be good
to go. But since I didn't click the button during the original
format/install process to give the computer OS9 bootable support, I'm
    ed...

Or am I? Is it possible to install the salient software now, or do I
have to completely reformat my drive and start from scratch? Anyone
out there with a workable solution?

    Thanks,

Here's what I would try. You will need an external firewire drive to do
    this.

Download and install Carbon Copy Cloner, use it to clone your
PowerBook's hard drive to an external firewire drive. After you've done
this, try booting from the external drive to make sure everything works.
Now boot from your OSX CD to wipe the internal hard drive and install
OS9 drivers. Boot from the firewire drive again and use Carbon Copy
Cloner to move everything back to the internal drive. You should now
have a working PowerBook with OS9 hard disk drivers installed.

Install OS 9.1/9.2 on an external USB or Firewire drive. Then copy the
system folder from that drive over onto your OS X drive. Classic will
be able to use the System Folder. This is how I copied an OS 9.2.2
System Folder onto a RAID1 mirror that I run OS X (10.2.6) from.

You won't have to destroy your existing 10.2.6 installation .....

This would be a capital idea, but you need OS9 installed (or the OS9
boot drivers installed) in order to run the OS9 installer. Whenever I
just try to run the OS9 installer, OSX tries to launch Classic, which
won't work because I didn't install the boot drivers to begin with. :-(

    Yip,

You will have to reformat the thing.. make at least 2 or 3 partitions
Use at least 5Gb; fouvourably 10 or more for every operating system if you
want to own a fast computer.

    SO: 6Gb (os9), 12Gb (osx) rest(Data)

and please do yourself a favour and read the
OS X 10.2.6 CORRUPTS ALL HARDDISKS UNDER OS9
it will evidently apply to you too.

    Good Luck Kay
