Need to restart after installing SW player
For users that get "
For users that get "Need to restart after installing SW player"
We have discovered this is because there are SW/Director DLL's in the system
folder.
These files are: dirapi.dll and iml32.dll
dirapi.dll and iml32.dll should only exist in
....\system32\macromed\Shockwave [VER]\ folders
Duplicate or older versions of these files might be found in locations such
as (a few examples):
C:\windows\system32
C:\Documents and Settings\userName\Local Settings\Temp\TempFolder.aaa
E:\OfficeXP\Files\OSP\1033\IE5\EN\SWDIR.CAB
These 2 files (dirapi.dll and iml32.dll) should only be in the Shockwave 8
or Shockwave 10 folders found in the Macromed folder, Example:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed.
Director developers will also find a copies in the application folders of
the Director application, example:
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Director MX
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Director MX 2004
TRY THIS FIX, applies to Windows 2000 and XP only:
1. Search for Dirapi.dll and iml32.dll (Director runtime files) on your hard
drive.
2. if these files are found outside of these locations:
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 10"
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 8"
"C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Director [version number or name]"
3. Note the locations and move the files into the Recycle Bin, you can
always use the "restore" to move them back.
Test Shockwave NOW at

If you have a corrupt installation of Shockwave do this:
4. Uninstall the Shockwave player using the uninstaller or the UNWISE.EXE in
the Shockwave folder.
Uninstallers for Shockwave 8.5 can be found here:
<http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp>
Uninstallers for Shockwave 10 are located in
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 10", see the UNWISE.exe
5. Delete all folders inside the Macromed folder but not the AUTHORWA folder
or Flash folder..
6 Reinstall the Shockwave player using the stand-alone installer, see
TechNote # 15895
7. Test Shockwave at http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/welcome
Hope this helps.

Whoa there! What about the prefs folder in the "Shockwave 8" folder? Might it> or Flash folder..
