Need to stop Acrobat from attempting to contact network server
Hello: I'm hoping someone will have a solution to my problem. I attempted to start a "Shared Review" in Acrobat. I used a Windows network server to host this review. Since this attempt, I found out that because I cannot setup "Mail" on my Mac (Windows network, Lotus Notes, Corporate environment...) I cannot properly do the Shared Review. One of the consequences of my actions is Acrobat now wants to go out and check the network server. My connection to the server requires a password and if my login has been inactive for a certain amount of time, I need to login again. If I do not login properly, when Acrobat decides to check the server, my password gets locked out. I then have to contact IT to unlock my password.
I have:
• Stopped the Shared Review
• Deleted the PDF from my computer and the server
• Changed the "Reviewing" preferences to Check for new comments to the maximum settings (30 minutes when the document is open and every month in the background) Why is there not a "Never" option?
• Uninstalled Acrobat, (No attempts to connect to the server with Acrobat not installed-2 days)
• Reinstalled Acrobat (restarted my computer, there was an automatic login attempt on the server)
What else can I do? ...help!...

Re: Need to stop Acrobat from attempting to contact network server
You can try dumping the Acrobat preferences in your user library. Are you using a mail client on the Mac? Do you have to connect to the server through the Finder first?

Re: Need to stop Acrobat from attempting to contact network server
I hope you don't have a lot of Comment Reviews. Go into the UI and remove the Review from the Tracker. If that doesn't work. Then remove the Synchronizer folder.
/Users/USERNAME/Library/Acrobat User Data/8.0_x86/Synchronizer
Afterward when you relaunch Acrobat it should self heal itself and put a new Synchronizer folder in it's place.

"sprale" and Sabian thank you for your responses. I will give your suggestions a try... Wouldn't the syncronizer an prefereneces have been deleted when I "uninstalled" Acrobat? ... or am I assuming too much ;-)

Lots of applications leave bits behind even if you use the provided uninstall app.
