Network Time Server Doesn't Work - OS 8.6 - Mac Applications & Software

NOTE: to reply to me, first remove "NOSPAMNO"

    I have a PowerMac G3 with a 266 MHz chip and
320 mb memory and running Operating System 8.6.

As of Septmebr 23, 2003, my computer can no
connect to the "Network Time Server" using
the "Date & Time" control panel.

Did Apple stop supportering the Network Time
    Server for Operating System 8.6?

If so, can I upgrade to OS 9 on my computer?
If so, what is the easiest way to do it?

What ntp server are you using ? maybe the server is down . Try to look
for an open server around ?
Maybe you're behind a Firewal wich block using outside ntp clocks ...

The ones that I have tried are:

    Apple Americ/U.S. (.apple.com)
    Datum, San Jose, California (209.0.72.7)
    NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland (129.6.16.36)
    NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland (132.163.135.130)
    time-c.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov (132.163.135.132)

Try to look for an open server around ?

How does one do that? I went to various lists
of public servers, which is where I found the
    above time ntp servers.

I turned off the firewall and I still have the same
    problem.

The problem that have is that I click the "Set Time
Now" button on the "Servers Option" menu box,
which I accessed via the "Date and Current Time"
control panel. It goes for several second and then
a dialogue box appears with the text:

"Newwork Time Server did not respond.
Time Server maybe busy, Please, try again
    later."

No matter what time of day that I try and,
so far, how many times I have tried it with
the different servers that I have above, I
get the same message, which leads me to
believe that it is nothing to do with any of
    the above servers being busy.

I hope you got it sorted out by now. If not, as a way to troubleshoot
your problem try some other NTP client, e.g Kirill Levchenko's free
Vremya, as an alternative to the one in "Date & Time" 8.1.1 APPC.
