Re: new 3D shockwave game
A great game!
Some things though:
Some lightreflections on the car would be nice
Great carhandling, but it should be a little better on the snowboard
Otherwise, the best game in quite some time!
Keep up the good work!

Re: new 3D shockwave game
It's a very cool game!
I like your textures. It looks very good!
One question: did you use havok for the physics? It runs so stable... I haven't seen yet a game made with shockwave, that have such realistic physics...

Re: new 3D shockwave game
The car uses the HAVOK physics engine.
The sports games snowboarding, biking and kayak are not HAVOK. Just Lingo code.

Re: new 3D shockwave game
hi,it really wonderful!
here I have a question too:
how do you make the textures of environmet like snow ground and grass ground possible
and not to have occupied to many memories?the environment is not small..
I know how to texture with "Unwrap" when using 3Dmax,it can freely paste the texture
but such big map like your game use "Unwrap" too?
can you please give me a simple tutorial....thx

Yes, for newcomers, just enter a nickname of your choice and a valid email
address, and it will work.

Re: new 3D shockwave game
This game proves once again that finding the right parameters is key to
success with Havok. Most often, the simulated cars look as if they were only
weighing less than 1000 pounds. The X3 in this game looks and feels like it
weight its two tons and that makes a difference.

Re: new 3D shockwave game
We made the gravity numbers twice what it is in reality.
Though we never did figure out if that was a bug in HAVOK, or that the non-real gravity just happens to be what players think feels right.

Re: new 3D shockwave game
Do Macromedia and Havok employees read this forum?
If so .... are you going to release new versions of Shockwave 8.5 and HAVOK?
Everyone seems to loves Shockwave 8.5's potential, but find it hard to use.
Thanks,
John

Re: new 3D shockwave game
I see that you generate the track with Lingo, a great work of coding, congratulations.
Havok is implemented superbly.
I guess that you use Lightwave for modelling (as we do) because the exporter has the bad habit to leave a lot of keyframesPlayer on each model even if there is nothing to animate. You can get rid of them and then save your movie with the undocumented .filesaveMode property set to #saveAll on your 3d world.
The worst thing in Lightwave exporter is the duplication of model resources, you can get rid of them and save with the same technique and save bytes.
What is the purpose of the big texture with all the others panorama textures inside? Do you cut the real textures on startmovie in real time with imaging Lingo?

Re: new 3D shockwave game
I do not think my employer (Skyworks) would want me to tell you all of our tricks. Sorry.
I am curious as to how you know so much about what the game is doing. Do you have some way of viewing the code/data contents of a DCR?
