FreeHand will be discontinued or sold. Illustrator is already top dog, and integrating the code from two different programs is just too much work.

Fireworks will slowly disappear. Photoshop is Adobe's star, and the vector orientation of Fireworks just doesn't mesh with Photoshop's workflow..."

FreeHand can be easily replaced by Illustrator and InDesign but Fireworks is the one I'll miss the most. It can render small vector objects, especially text, way better than Photoshop.

He certainly got that one right!
I just bought another "new", used dual G4 for the office that will
ensure smooth working for a while to come and I couldn't care less about
either the merger or Apple's embarrassing attempt at an operating system.

Why would you buy a G4 (Apple) if the operating system is an embarrassment?

Boo! I hate Adobe interfaces. The Macromedia ones are much more intuitive.

I like the way the work right now.

Why should it? They are like apples and oranges. Fireworks was designed
for creating Web graphics, It's ease of use and speed of workflow can't
be matched by Photoshop for the purpose. They should continue to be
    developed as separate applications.
