Default New, need a link to tutorials

Hi I am a complete newcomer to web design and dreamweaver.
Have a lot of experience with photoshop and illustrator. But no idea about
this.

Does anybody have a link to some free tutorials about getting started?

Thanks

Heya,
If you visit www.Kirupa.com they have some awesome tutorials, most of
them are for Macromedia Flash, which is definately something you should learn
if youre getting into web DESIGN. And if your into Photoshop and Illustrator
you'll probably lean more towards that. So if you learn some flash you'll learn
some great web design things.
Also, probably the best way to learn is to study other peoples work. Go
to your favorite website and in the browser window choose 'File' -> 'Save Page
As" and you can save it to your desktop and see EXACTLY how they made it if you
open it up in Dreamweaver. I met a guy who used to be a lead engineer for
Lexus, he created all the code for Lexus' car engines and he told me not to try
and reinvent the wheel when it comes to coding and web design, meaning: it's
okay to copy other peoples CODE and manipulate it to fit your site. Plus,
that's like the best way to learn: experience.
Hope this helps!

I would recommend that you leave FLASH behind until you learn HTML and CSS
well. Flash is a bad way to begin learning how to build web pages in my
opinion.

Different strokes as they say.

For sure, learning Flash will not help you learn HTML/CSS. Learning
HTML/CSS may help you with Flash (I dunno)....

Haha,
Well there is a little difference of opinion there, I do have to say that
Murray gives good advice, he's helped me a ton with my work. I suppose in terms
of learning code, Flash doesn't really have anything to do with it. But I am
also a WYSIWYG editor/designer. And Flash is definately WYSIWYG, but it also, I
found, inches you into the Dreamweaver enviornment as well as understanding how
code works (IE ActionScript). I found that trying to learn CSS and HTML
straight of the street is very very difficult, at least for people who lean
more toward the artistic side of things. Mostly because you have to learn a
heck of a lot of code in order to really be able to manipulate it in such a way
that you can really be original. But that's just from my experience.

HENNIFER,

I learned html from searching the web through Google and finding tutorials. I
also used Colin Smith's books, such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver Integration.
You can also check out the tutorials offered right in Dreamweaver (they are
under the Help menu>Tutorials).
