Default New to Freehand

Dear All:

I am new to Freehand and would like to learn as much about the product as
possible but, I have limited time to do so. Can anyone assist me with some
additional resources (inexpensive)? Also, is this the correct forum for asking
remedial questions about the product because once again I am new and I have a
lot of question? Thanks in advance for your assistance. And if there are any
geniuses out there who need someone to soak up your knowledge please use me I
would love to be your student.

Thanks,

Dawn

This forum will be one of your best resources. Yes you can ask basic
questions, but you will get much more patient and understanding
responses if you do some of the research first(i.e. looking through the
Help section or searching the forum). No one will be flat out rude but
they will kindly suggest doing some legwork yourself. Besides you get
faster answers that way and you learn other things in the process.

There is an excellent site at http://www.freehandsource.com however it
doesn't seem to be up currently. Keep an eye out.

Good Luck!

I have found the Visual Quickstart books a good beginning to
learning software. They break everything into simple steps. Their
cost is reasonable.

Default How to get arrowheads to end on line

Is it me, or is Freehand's method to draw arrowheads flawed.

Usually, I draw lines with the Snap to objects enabled but then
when arrowheads are added, the arrowheads extend beyond the end
point of the line.

I have made custom arrowheads but that gets to be a pain.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to draw arrowheads that
touch the object they point to?

David,

Yes arrowheads in FH are screwed up it is not just you. It's a shame that
the tip of the arrow does not snap or align with other artwork but rather
the end of the line.
I share your dread of the archaic customizing interface. It needs some work
in order to make is more useful. Enabling snapping would be a good start as
would being able to use artwork from the library, or symbols or by
dragging other artwork from the workspace or pasting from the pasteboard.

Yeah, I'm currently working with the host to figure out why it's down.
So please do check for it soon.

Thanks.

Hey Ian,

I was afraid you had officially jumped ship and that there might be an
illustratorsource.com coming up soon. Glad to see you are still around.

Thanks Rich, yes still around, but not doing as much FreeHand work these
days. Mostly using it as a "helper" app for my Flash work than anything.

Anyway, I poke my head in here from time to time to see what's going on.
Glad to see a lot of the familiar "old-timers" still around.
