Re: New to InDesign - best books?
If you are only a newbie to InDesign, but experienced at QuarkXPress, you should look at "InDesign for QuarkXPress Users" by Cohen and Werner (I think).
But no matter your skill level, "Real World InDesign" is a great book. It offers great detail and depth, but is still fun and approachable. Yet it has answered every single tough question I've tried to look up in it. I will be getting two copies when the CS version comes out, so I can have one at home and one in the office -- just like I do for the InDesign 2 version of the book.

You get partial credit! "InDesign for QuarkXPress Users" is by David Blatner, Steve Werner & Christopher Smith (Peachpit Press).
