    Default New-to-MX questions

    System
    Mac G5 1.8 dual, 1 gig RAM, OS10.3.
Printers: HP Laserjet 4MV and Linotronic 330 v52.

    Questions
    - When I open About FreeHand, it tells me I have version 11.0 build 416. I
thought I downloaded the updater, but I don't see it on my hard drive, and this
version number makes me think I didn't install it. Thinking maybe I didn't
download it, I tried again, but was told I "already registered" this serial
number, and couldn't download the updater. (This seems dumb, since I can't use
the updater if I don't already have FreeHandMX, but whatever.) Am I correct in
assuming that if I did install the updater, that it would tell me I have
    version 11.0.1
    - The key command to open the Objects palette is >F3, except that little arrow
thingy is pointing up instead of right. What is that? I can't figure out what
keystrokes to use to open the Objects palette
    - When I go to print something, I pull down the third pulldown menu (which
reads Copies and Pages when it first opens) to FreeHand MX so I can use the
"Advanced" features. However, more often than not when I click on "Advanced,"
all I get is a preview page that lets me see the page in three different modes
(keyline, xbox and regular, or something like that). Other times, it works like
it should -- I can work with the Paper Setup, Imaging and Separations buttons.
This happens with both print drivers. Any ideas why

    Thanks
    Ke

    Default Re: New-to-MX questions

Technically, there is no "updater" for FH11.0 to update it to FH11.0.1. What
exists is a full FH11.0.1 installer that owners of a licensed FH11.0 can
    download at no charge.

This FH11.0.1 installer installs a completely separate FH11.0.1 "FreeHand
MXa" application; it does _NOT_ modify or alter any existing FH11.0
"FreeHand MX" installation. By default, this installation is in a "FreeHand
MXa" folder in the "Applications" folder on your boot volume.

    So:
    1. It is NOT correct that, if you downloaded the "new FH" and installed it,
your previously existing FH11 "MX" would now say 11.0.1. It would not have
been modified by installing the download and would continue to say 11.0.
    2. If attempting to download again results in the error you state, you must
    have downloaded the new installer.

The new installer download includes the installer and a new serial number.
You must use this new serial number (FHD110-... instead of FHM110-... or
FHW110-...) with the new FH 11.0.1 "MXa".
