New to the Group (Canon EOS Rebel 2000) - Photography

I recently purchased a 80-200mm zoom lense for the subject camera. It's a wonderful lense, however, when I put it on my camera and go to adjust the focus on it (and when it focuses automatically), it makes a small noise that's a little hard to explain. My other lense, (a 28-80mm) doesn't make this noise. It's almost like a "I shouldn't turn this anymore for fear of braking it" kind of noise. Is this normal, or should I have my local camera shop look at it? Also, I've read somewhere (I lost the article) that there is an attachment ...

Also, I've read somewhere (I lost the article) that there is an attachment
cord that you can use to hook a Canon camera up to your computer. Has
anyone heard or seen such a thing?

    TIA,

If it's making odd noises, take it back.
I don't think I've ever heard of anyone connecting a Rebel to a
computer.... I'm %99 sure it is not capable of it. There have been a
few high end Nikon s you could do this with, but it always seemed kind of
    pointless to me.

You certainly can do that with the digital SLRs (such as the Canon
    10D),
but I have not seen that for the Rebel.

You can use it for remote controlling the camera from your computer.
One useful feature is that you can set the camera up for taking a
    sequence
of autoexposures over a period of time.

It is not big deal, and the unfortunately software is not very robust
to work with in my experience.
