New to Ubuntu- Printer?
I have a Lexmark x-73 Printer. I think I found where to install printers and
clicked "install driver". The document name is displayed as "printing" but
there is no response from the printer.
Can anyone help?
Thank You,

surprised to find that this printer works wonderfully with Ubuntu and
Mepis. This is after years of not being able to print directly from Linux.

BTW, I had to go through hell to find out how to do this. I can't help
you with your specific printer.

years old by now, and is starting to have paper feed problems.
This is encouraging, because I was planning on replacing the
Mandrake with Ubuntu when (and if) the CDs arrive. I am going to
combine that with adding another hd, replacing the memory with ECC,
and removing dust bunnies.
If anybody has magic wands to handle the paper feed pickup, let me
know. I even have a spare toner cartridge for it, which I want to
use up.

something like "Rubber Renu" by MG Chemicals to restore your feeder
wheels. It's worked for me.

where I am having trouble. Those wheels are plastic in the ML4500.

mine are rubber.
You might try to coat the wheels with a thin layer of rubber. Use
something like "Liquid Tape." You just want the surface to be a little
"grabby." Maybe even a touch of very fine sandpaper might do it.
