Default Newbie: Creating / Applying Styles

    Possible newbie question:

Why is that when I create a style, be it Paragraph or Character, I
select the text I want and it creates the style - however - the style
is not applied. Instead, I have to click the style to apply it.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance.

No, that's the way it works. You are creating a style based on the
attributes you have selected. You then have to apply the style to that
    paragraph.
