newbie - problems changing master pages
hi,
sorry if this sounds stupid. i did the layout of a book using a master
page i created, and all went smoothly, except that when i got the
proof, i didn't like the way the margins look. i tried to change the
master page and apply to the whole book (by applying to a spread of
pages, like from 1-150) but ID won't let me (illegal page numbers msg,
or st like that). so i tried to apply the new master to the chapters
individually. the margins don't look any different, in fact, althought
the text frames (pink) changed. the text is inside blue lines (cells
maybe?). so i might have done something stupid in the first place,
maybe with cells. anyways, i was wondering if i can do something to
easily change the margins in the whole book. can i (and should i) apply
cells to my master page?
thank you!

I think I am following what you're saying...
Unless you have changed the colours in the preferences, your margins
will appear as pink, and your text frames will have blue edges. If you
have set up (for example) 10mm margins on your master page, then drew
text frames on each of the pages to match the margins, changing the
margins on the master page WILL NOT change the location and or width of
your text frames on your pages. Text frames are independant of your
master pages. This is really something you should finalise before you
have 150 pages, because you will now have to adjust 150 or more text
frames...sorry!
I'm not sure why you weren't able to apply the master to a range of
pages though, it may have something to do with sectioning - if you have
section prefixes in front of your page numbers and aren't typing this
in correctly.
Good luck.
