Yes, you can use triggers for this.     You could use a trigger for this but your design is weak because are
    creating a redundant column in the parent table. A view might be a better
    approach and it would remove the need for a trigger. You didn't post any DDL
    so here's a guess at what the view might look like:

    CREATE VIEW Orders_With_Completion_Status
    AS
    SELECT orderno, MIN(completed) AS completed
    FROM OrderItems
    GROUP BY orderno
