Newbie tutorial for MySQL/OS X? - MySQL

Is there a good newbie-oriented tutorial for MySQL 5.0 on OS X? I know lots about OS X but nothing about SQL generally or MySQL. I'm hoping to set up a database and to be able to connect to it from NeoOffice using Connector/J. The doentation at mysql.org is over my head at this point. Thanks!...

The reference docs are probably not the best way to learn any software.
Did you try the MySQL tutorial at MySQL.com?

You can also find many other MySQL tutorials on the web. Just google for
"mysql tutorial". Try one, and if it doesn't suit you, try another one.

MySQL Connector/J is pretty simple. Just make sure the Connector/J jar file
is on your classpath, and you have access to the JDBC methods. Use the
reference docs to learn the format for the connection string, and then
everything after that is pretty much straight JDBC.
