Newbie user looking for possible solutions to two problems

First, I want to make sure that my photos are compressed for my web page. Is that done through photoshop? If so how? I'm using 7.0

Next, I trying to get rid of borders on a transparent gif. The border is wide and soft, consuming a little part of the image. How do I trim this border without triming the image? Obviously, the erase takes off part of the image. Naturally the crop function would take some of the image.

Devin,

Use Save For Web.

You would have to re-create the image where the border had obscured it.
