Russel Brown has a nice little PDF tutorial on the History brush. Check it out here <http://www.russellbrown.com/tips/photoshop.html>

Does this mean that this determines that place in history that you will
go back to using the history brush tool? Does this mean that it will not
erase anything prior to that step?

it does if you set that as your history brush source by clicking box next to the snapshop

With the history brush tool you will paint with the content of the snapshot
you assigned the history brush to.

    Using snapshots with history brush

    Classroom in a Book indicates:

"Selecting a snapshot determines the source pixel state you will paint into the current state of the image."

Does this mean that this determines that place in history that you will go back to using the history brush tool? Does this mean that it will not erase anything prior to that step?
