    Well, I uninstalled KB821557 and everything is working again, so I guess that was the culprit. That hotfix is listed as a "Critical Update" and is supposed to patch a security hole in XP. Guess I'll wait and see if MS can get its act together.

    Try resetting photoshop preferences per the procedure in the FAQ's. Reinstalling does not overwrite the prefs file (fortunately!)

    windows upgrade

    I updated my windows XP system with all the latest security updates and now Photoshop 7.0 won't work properly (although it worked before the updates). I can't "open" any files or "save as" anything from the program window and file drop down. I get no file browser window, just the hourglass until I finally have to end the program to get out. If I uninstall it, my Photoshop 6.0 works fine, but as soon I put 7.0 back in, I have the same problem.
