Nightmare for Prepress RGB to CMYK Poor Color Conversion
Nightmare (Microsoft Publisher) for Prepress RGB to CMYK. Using a PDF workflow at rip, .ps and PDF files are sent to a rip that converts all to PDFs. A Pitstop Profile is used converting all colors to CMYK. At present we attach a ICC tag Photoshop5 CMYK. This is a small help it brings up the saturation of color, but still produces a washed out color. Would guess this is due to UCR translation, subtraction, addition or your guess. We have try to convert all colors to CMYK out of microsoft and PDFs before sending to rip, (converting images, .tifs .eps .jpg, and etc to CMYK). This still is not a good thing, colors are still crappy. Beginning to take a lot heat from the chairs up stairs, why can't we get better color conversion? And I say why can't I be Paris's tag along? If anyone out there is working through this issue would like to tag along with you on the journey to better color conversion, or how to keep my customers color snappy.

PC XP
Acrobat Professional 6.0.5 with Enfocus Pitstop
Preps 4.5

Re: Nightmare for Prepress RGB to CMYK Poor Color Conversion
A good starting point would be to turn ON the colour management settings
within Enfocus Pitstop preferences ;-)
This option is often overlooked - maximum UCR is typically applied
without the CMS applied.
I would use AdobeRGB1998 and a typical geographical CMYK output ICC
profile as your destination for CMYK.
