Nikkor 24-85mm G vs the 24-85mm D vs Sigma 24-70mm EX - any experiences - Photography

erzar I have only ever owned one of these lenses - the Nikkor 24 - 85 mm AF D It's a v. good lens. I have since sold it and gone to the 28-70 AFS but I still have good memories the 24-85mm I do miss those extra 4mm on the bottom and 15mm at the top though. - peteZ "erzar" <myspamrrr.com> wrote in message news:3f17814busenet.per.paradox.net.au... > i am tossing up between these two or the sigma 24-70mm EX.anybody have any > of these lenses and care to comment on performace. especially flare, > ghosting, sharpness and saturation.thanks > > ...

I am asumming you are talking about the 28-70mm 2.8. How does it compare to
this lens. I have heard it is soft wide open but better when stopped down. I
shoot alot of shots with the sun in the frame what is its ghostings and
    flare like?

    thanks

Yes, it was the 28-70 AFS ED-IF f/2.8 I was referring to.

I use this for basically all of my portraiture work - it's a v.fast AFS plus
it's sharp glass would make me recommend this to you. It's ~ 3 times the
price of the others you mentioned earlier though.

I have found it sharp right thru generally although, I do stick around the
    f/8.0 region mostly.

A friend of mine has one of these on a Sigma SD9. He is raving about it
    every chance he gets.
