At $3500, I guess it competes with the Canon 1D Mark-II ($4500). But
why the older 4MP sensor? Why not atleast use the D70's 6.1MP sensor
and give it a fair chance against the 1D Mark-II. With almost similar
specs, double the megapixels for $1000 extra seems like a no-brainer.

The D2h is an older design that focuses on fast processing speed, primarily
for photojournalists who don't need any higher than 4MP but who need rapid
shooting speeds. The new D2x is the camera you should be comparing to the
    Canon 1D.

The D70's sensor has a higher MP count, but that is its only advantage. The
JFET sensor in the D2H is faster and has better color resolution. This is a
camera that is intended to be used for long bursts of photos. It will shoot
at 8 fps for 40 raw frames. Try that with the D70!

I believe that number goes up to 60 frames in the D2Hs.

IIRC the dpreview article says 50 fps for JPG, 40 fps for NEF. I think it
used to be 40/20 in the old D2H.
