The doentation on NIS is unclear as to the NIS domainname setting.
On SCO 5.0.6, the domainname can be set to the FQN but on MS Services
for
UNIX, the domainname only accepts the first part of the FQN.

For a FQN for server "UNIX" at big.and.ugly.com the only
setting acceptable to MSS is "big." Therefor it appears that
the NIS domainname can be set to "company" while the FQN is
UNIX.big.and.ugly.com.

Checking the SCO doentation for NIS and SCO TA's does not clarify
NIS domainname settings and consequences.

Can anyone post setting they use for NIS domainname and FQN on their
networks?

TIA
