Default no body content visible in document window

Using DW MW with 61 update on WIN XP HOME. I'm trying to edit a site written with an external HTML editor. All I am seeing is stacked tables and comment icons but no editable body content.

    suggestion

    1) make backups of the files.
    2) turn off all code rewriting in dw Preferences.
    3) run syntax checkers and validation on the code.

reason- my assumption is there's bad syntax and dw can't make sense of it.
If you leave code rewriting and "auto-correct on opening" enabled, dw can
    make mistakes and remove content.

Look in the source view and/or design view for yellow highlighted html tags.

Or- less likely- it's CSS-P that dw can't render correctly.

post a url and some folks might give it a quick thumbs up/down on what the
    problem is.

There is no viewable body content in the DW document window. Page content is viewable only in browser.

    The page *has* no content.
It's brought in from other pages. If you look at the code, you'll see
all these links where the stuff comes from. That's why you can't see it
in DW: the linked pages/images don't show up until they're requested,
which DW never does. If you want to edit something, you better open
    those pages instead.
Besides, the page has been made in FrontPage and is a bit odd...
