No preview when importing AI CS files into ID?

I'm running OS 10.2.8, and I just upgraded to Illustrator CS from version 10 two weeks ago. With Illustrator 10, I was able to see previews of my EPS files, both in the Finder and when importing them into InDesign. With Illustrator CS, I just get a generic EPS CS icon. This is a big problem for me, because I keep big folders of clip art with obscure names like N092832.eps and I'd hate to have to open every one to find the one that I'm looking for.

Is this a common problem, or do I need to change a preference somewhere? I'm stumped at this point.

On the desktop there is only a generic eps cs icon in the place dialogue the preview
shows when you select the file.

Unfortunately, I'm getting the generic icon when I go to place it in ID. Wonder what I've got set up wrong?

OK open or create a document save it or export it as a PDF and choose embed thumbnails I think that might do it. Then try making another file and save as and see if things are alright. Or you can trash you AI CS preferences.
