NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
Ok I have been having this problem for the past couple of months. I recently
formatted my harddrive and reinstalled all my data. I updated all my XP files
including SP2, and reinstalled the flash player. All my drivers are up to date,
and everything else works fine. But I am unable to obtain any soung while
playing flash movies. The picture and video is fine, it plays without error,
but there is no sound. If anyone can provide help, you know, like the people
who work for the company?!?!?! I would appreciate it. I have tried all the
posted suggestions of help (from non macromedia sources I might add) on here
and have found that nobody has corrected it as of yet. This seems to be a
problem with quite a few people so please someone with control please correct
this problem. I find it quite annoying that a company just lets these
complaints go on unheeded.

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
Wow the response has been astounding, it is just a remarkable thing to see that
a company takes the time to rectify the problems of its products. It is truly a
sight to behold. When the net is flooded with similar problems, you would
expect an operation such Macromedia to simply let it go, but they jumped in
with two feet and corrected it before I could even finish typing the post of my
error!?! They even offered to come to my house and help to eliminate all the
hidden porn files, what a group of guys, you got to love them all!!! AMAZING!!!
PS - Why hasn't anyone come up with a solution as of yet? Your reluctance only
solidifies your ignorance.

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
I just fixed mine... I was able to use windows media player with sound but no
sound in flash. Goto the sounds icon in Control Panel make sure you have a
sound device... if not uninstal your drivers and it will reinstall them, click
over a few tabs and select you sound card from the drop down menus for sounds
and microphone usage... Worked for me...
I wonder how I lost the sound card to begin with?

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
I am having the same problem, no sound in flash, but sound works fine in other
apps and in plugins - even shockwave! it is discussed here:
[url]http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=184&[/url]
threadid=948827&enterthread=y as you will see Bentley Wolfe from
macromedia is aware of the problem and has referred it to engineering who are
working on it. I for one am getting a little impatient - it has been many
months since this was first brough to MM's attention and i hope they can get a
solution soon!

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
I had been dealing with this for quite some time as well ...until today. A
setting on my sound had been changed for some reason. I have an on-board
C-Media card. The setting: [Advanced] setup from the mixer application,
[Speakers] tab, check the "Using Xear 3D" check box, click [Apply]. Why the
heck this allowed me to hear Flash sound I have no clue.
If your sound card is different, check and mess around with your settings
(methodically, of course, so you don't break anything else!).
Can't tell you how nice it is to finally fix this problem -hope the above
helps.
This could be a good excuse to try out a new soundcard :D

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
hey omg i had this same problem but i fixed it by reinstalling my sound drivers
but it kept stuffing up. But anyway in the end the problem was that Windows
sounds were disabled. Heres how to fix it go to Start>control panel>admin
tools>services> windows audio, dbl click that and make sure on the "log on" tab
its enabled. Then on the general tab make sure its started.

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
ok guys I found a solution......Just delete (macromedia flash player 8) from
your
add remove list ....when youll go back to a sight that needs it ..it will
reinstall itselff ...if after it still doesn't work try deleting one or more of
your media players.
windows media 11 is out try updating that one as well before instaling
macromedia flash player 8 I think theres a conflict between windows media
player 10 or one your media players ,......it worked for me :) Guys dont
forget to reboot before having a heartattack lol:)

Adobe has recently released Flash Player 9. Download and check to see if the new Player resolves these audio issues.
You can download Flash Player 9 here:

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
Hello,Guys
I have exactly the same problem.
I have picture while playing flash in all 3 browsers I have, but there is no
sound.
Also if you download flash movie on the HD there is also no sound.
Default windows sounds are also not working.
I have sound when playing song or a movie, but this is not flash content.
I read and tried everything you wrote But none of the above helped.
Neither instaliing flash payer 9, nor updating the driver of my sound max
audio device
the services are running just fine also but no change.
If anybody can have a better solution, please write.

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
Hi, I have had a similar problem ( no sound on flash player )especially on
youtube, google videos. I have C-Media card. There was setting in the
application config setup program. that had turned my audio off. Was playing
real player, Windows M player. I think they have volume controls for each file
format ! So make sure all of them is turned. Special thanks to natalie
wouldn't ( posted reporting the same problem) for directing me to the right
area. I was kind of tired of downloading codecs.! Problem lie on a setting of
my c-media card.

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
I can't believe this issue is over a year old without a resolution. Come on, I
hate having no sound with flash only. Everything else works fine. I tried
everything people recommended here. And now my windows sounds are missing too
i.e no error dings and boot up/shutdown sounds. Other than this all media files
sound fine, I use the K-Lite Mega Codec pack which comes with Media Player
Classic and it can pretty much play any file format you throw at it. Besides
that I have the normal Windows Media Player that comes with WinXP installation.
I have MSI motherboard with onboard sound by Realtek and have the newest
drivers for it. The only way to play Flash files for me is to download then and
then play them with an external player which kind of defeats the whole point of
streaming video sites like youtube etc. I had pretty much given up on it until
I saw this thread and hopes were raised again. Where can I find older versions
of flash, if anyone is still reading this. Thank you.

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
Here is what worked for me (found this on the net):
Go to START > RUN > REGEDIT.EXE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
Create a new String value named ?wavemapper?. As value give it ?msacm32.drv?.
(RIGHT CLICK the RIGHT WINDOW / NEW / STRING VALUE ?enter ?wavemapper?
HIHGLIGHT wavemapper for VALUE AS and enter? msacam32.drv
Sound is now coming in loud and clear, but no volume control. So we go to
Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / VOLUME / Place volume icon in the
taskbar - checked. Click Apply.
You should now have a sound.

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
512jones posted:
"Found this!! and it works!
I just reinstalled my system with XP SP2 and found that sound in Macromedia
Flash player (version 9) wasn?t working. I compared it to another machine and
found out that - for some obscure reason - the wavemapper mapping was missing.
I tried reinstalling other versions of the Flash player, but to no success ?
So I added the mapping myself via the registry.
Go to the following sweetspot in your registry:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Win dows
NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
Create a new String value named ?wavemapper?. As value give it ?msacm32.drv?.
And that?s it, no restart necessary, all your Flash embedded videos will have
sound again :)"
This was a very usefull hint for me because I had the entry in my registry
but the file itself was missing on my desktopPC
After copying it from my laptop to C:\Windows\system32 I had sound again as
well in flashplayer and in powerpoint.
Many thanks

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
The right value is "msacm32.drv"
And one hint in addition: check if you find this file in C:\Windows\System32.
I had no sound in flashplayer because this file was missing on my PC

Re: NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER!!!!!
I have no sound either ... and i haven't had sound for over a year. I believe
it all started when i uninstalled some video codecs (like xvid). However, i've
completely deleted and reinstalled windows, reinstalled audio codecs of every
kind, reinstalled audio drivers a million times and tried different versions of
them.
I have an nforce 4 motherboard with nforce 4 sound built in, standard nvidia
reference drivers, xp pro sp 2, media player 10, xvid video, divx video, mpeg4
sound, ac3 sound, and more. It would be great if anyone at adobe could just
tell me which audio codec i need to install to get this to work. Thanks!
