no sound with flash player

Hi
I am using macromedia flash player 8 to watch streaming video on youtube.com.
The video is fine but I have no audio.

I have already un-installed and installed it again but that did not do the
trick even after a reboot. I can play other audio formats and I have checked my
speakers and they are fine too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. I noticed it at youtube and then I realised that all
the other flash sites I've been to didn't have the sound like they are supose
to. Is this a bug in a recent release?

I'm on WinXP Pro, Sound Blaster Audigy, all standard codecs and I tried the
new Soundblaster driver along with the old. They didn't fix the problem. Tried
different codec sets, no fix. Uninstalled quicktime because it is the most
recent thing I updated audio/video wise, no fix. I also tried my three
different browsers I have on my computer. I can't figrue it out.

I work for [url]www.starfall.com[/url] - using flash for K - 2 reading instruction. I've
received *several* feedback emails in the past few weeks from users who cannot
hear sound from the Flash player. These are popping up too frequently to chalk
up to "user error".

I came hoping to find out what to tell these people. I can't duplicate this
error on any of my test machines on hand.

I'm driving Mac OS X 10.4.5 and FMP 8.0.24 and I don't get audio from
either youtube or starfall.

Last week I was getting it. Now I'm not.

Same here; Flash no longer plays any audio content anywere. It stopped working
when I replaced my working v8,0,22,x with v8,0,24,0 as recommended by
Adobe/Macromedia due to a serious security flaw (buffer overflow vulnerability;
CERT TA06-075A 16March06) in the v22 player. Since then, no sound.

Like others, have tried the unhelpful suggestions like uninstalling and
reinstalling, etc.

Right now, though, there's another issue (why I'm here for the third time in a
week). I currently have a Flash Settings dialog running that is running in some
kind of loop: it insanely clicks on every available window/option/checkbox,
changing windows like a banshee (no, I'm not clicking on them myself). It's
running like a madman on top of my browser right now and won't quit.

Okay, an update. I can confirm the sound issue is related to the v8,0,24,0 of
Flash Player. Removing that version and reinstalling Flash8 v8,0,22,0
completely solves the problem; sound returns and all is well.

Of course, since v8,0,22 is a massive security hole, I will have to uninstall
it and do without.

I have users with player version 8,0,22 and 7.19 with this problem, on Mac and PC platforms, IE, Fireforx and Safari browsers.

I was not using flash player before. When I was installing it, I was running
iTunes. Latest flash player, latest Mac OS X. No audio.
I had similar problem on the laptop.
I quit all the applications and restarted both computers. Than I opened only
Safari and installed again the newest flash player from Macromedia site (after
shuting down Safari during installation). Both computers started playing audio
on Safari.

It is possible that the installer has aborting the proper configuration if the
audio devices are locked by some other applications. Don't know, just guess.
Tricks with garage bend and others might achieve the same effect as above, but
they did not work for me, while the above procedure did.
