    Default No Valid Serial Number

I just received Photoshop Elements bundled with a new film scanner. When I attempt to install Elements it tells me the 24 number serial numbe on the CD case is not valid. How do I get the valid serial number so I can install the software?

    Guerry,

Look closely, sometimes 6 and 8 are confused, and all those 0 are zeroes, not o's. In doubt, take a
    magnifying glass to help.

    Guerry,

You'll need to contact the film scanner's customer or technical support
unit. Only they can supply a valid serial number for this oem'd software.

In the meantime, check that you didn't type "el" instead of one, "Oh"
    instead of zero, etc.

I have exactly the same problem with the disc that came bundled with my Cannon Lide 880 scanner. I found a post from this forum Aug 21 that says:

    "Michael45 - 12:43am Aug 21, 2003 Pacific
I bought a Minolta film scanner that included Photoshop Elements 2.0. As much as I try, the serial number (I presume this is the right one, for there is no other)which appears on the CD-ROM case is not accepted as a valid Photoshop serial number thus making the installation impossible. As anyone ever encountered this problem?

    Answer

I called Adobe products general questions line (800-833-6687)and they said the serial number I had was for a 2.0 version and the disc I had was a 1.0 version. There is a separate serial number on each disc. They are sending me a 2.0 version at no charge. The service person was very pleasant and helpful."

So I just finished calling this number and got the same very pleasant and helpful person. She said it was a known problem and that in my case I had Version 2.0 on my CD but the serial number was for Ver 1.0

She gave me a Customer ID No and a Case file No and said they would send me a valid serial No by email Not until Monday because tech support was not available on the weekend. Hope this helps you
