Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
OSX.4.6, Acrobat Pro. 7.08 Enfocus PitStop Pro. 7.01.
I am trying to load the enfocus preflight with Acrobat 7.08 but cannot get past the "certified plug-ins only". Even when I uncheck the box, it will not change the "Currently Working in Certified Mode" from Yes to No. How can I get this to change to "NO" to get my Enfocus PitStop to install?
thanks, Diana Halstead

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
Once you have turned the setting OFF, you may still see "Certified
Mode: yes" if no plug-ins are correctly installed. So focus on the
plug-in install NOT on the message.

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
Acrobat will still not launch when I install the Enfocus software. There has got to be a way to get Acrobat to change the "Certified Mode" to no.

What happens instead of launching?
This is probably a red herring.>There has got to be a way to get Acrobat to change the "Certified Mode" to no.

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
The Acrobat icon will flash on the dock for a minute or 2 and then just shut down. If I disable the Enfocus plug-in then Acrobat starts up as normal.

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
This problem is certainly nothing to do with the certified setting,
and you should contact Enfocus.

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
It might be a profile/action list database conversion problem if upgrading?
Or even as Aandi mentioned, a red herring ...
If you wish to double-post no problem - but please contact
support@enfocus.com
Keep us up-to-date - interested in the problem
Jon
PS - worth repairing all permissions also ...

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
As of friday nothing seemed to help. I pulled all acrobat preference, all enfocus preferences, repaired permissions, uninstalled/reinstalled, repair again to no avail. This morning I came to do battle again. I read everyones suggestions and decided to check the crash log. I opened the crash log, couldn't make heads or tails out of it at all, so, I decided to deleted everything in the crash log, start acrobat, and get the error to post. I started acrobat and everything worked beautifully, Enfocus loaded up no problem. All works perfectly. I don't know if there was something "cached" that cleared, I don't know if 3 days rest did it or the computer gods decided that I had banged my head against the wall enough and would smile on me.
I have 2 more systems in my department that I need to deal with and will try to clear the crash log to see if that was my problem. If this works on those systems I'll let you know.
Thanks for all your help!

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
Hi Diana,
The clearing of the crash log should not has any relationship with the
way in which applications perform.
I am interested in your configuration - was this an upgrade from Pitstop
6, or a fresh install?
If you have any continuing problems with Pitstop - then click on my
profile on the left (in a browser) and anything which comes from our
discussions, I will re-post onto this forum.
I have a special interest in this topic ...
Cheers!

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
Hi Jon,
The Acrobat was a Full Version CS2 install from Photoshop upgrade. The PitStop was full install since my previous version was 4.61 for Acrobat 4.0. Since we are a newspaper and on deadline it will be late this week before I'll be able to work on the other systems.
But I must say that Enfocus support has been extremely helpful in troubleshooting this problem. Even though I don't know at this time exactly what changed to finally make it work.
I'll let you know more once I can get my hands on the other computers.

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
Jon,
I've now narrowed down the problem. It is in the dreaded fonts. I had deactivated a bunch of my fonts before I launched Acrobat this morning. When I reactivated ALL of my fonts, Acrobat would no longer load.
Do you know if there is a limit to the number of fonts that will load before it blows it's little mind? Or is there a "type" of font (truetype, postscript, open type face) that would make Acrobat behave badly?
Thanks for all your help,
Diana

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
If this occurs again - you might want to search for the following file '
'PitStopFontinfo.dat' and remove.
This is a font cache file that Pitstop generates upon its first launch
which might become corrupt ...
Cheers!

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
I pulled the PitStopFontinfo.dat file and still will not boot up.
And to answer Mark's question, I have 1900 fonts in fontbook, I don't know how many are actually activated. I am going through fontbook right now and deactiving a bunch more. Do I need to remove the fonts or can I just deactivate them?
Thanks

Re: Non-certified Plug-ins Acrobat Pro 7.08
Mark & Jon,
I have managed to track the problem down to 1 font, Columbus MT, to be exact. I have all 1900 fonts activated and Acrobat/Enfocus are working great.
To think that 1 lousy font could cause all of this (and I thought it had to do with certified plug-ins because that's when the trouble started).
I greatly appreciate all your suggests and help, otherwise I probably would have thrown in the towel a long time ago.
I just found this forum and it's as great as the MacTec forum I've been with for years.
Thanks Again!!
