Norton Internet Security 2005 and coldfusion
Hi
sorry if this is slightly OT, I use CFMX7 on my home PC and recently installed
In Norton Internet Security 2005. My problem is that, even though I've created
a rule for jrun.exe & am using manual program control, I still get warning
messages that jrun.exe is trying contact DNS server. I'm just on the point of
turning off NIS altogether.
But I wonder if anyone else has experienced and solved this issue?
Thanks

Try to disable the Norton's Firewall only not the whole program.

Re: Norton Internet Security 2005 and coldfusion
Open NIS2005, go to the Status & Settings of
Norton Internet Security. Click onPersonal Firewall,
then on Configure.
Press the Programs tab, and delete all entries that have to
do with Coldfusion MX7 or JRun. Click on OK and close NIS2005.
Start the Coldfusion Administrator. Norton Internet Security's Program
Control screen appears, asking whether you want to allow or to block
internet access the the JRun.exe application. Choose to always allow
connections from the program to all ports.

Re: Norton Internet Security 2005 and coldfusion
Thank you - tried BKBK solution and, as usual, it worked until I rebooted the PC. The firewall is disabled now!

Pretty drastic, isn't it? Why not just uninstall, without saving settings,
then re-install. Use LiveUpdate, and when your Symantec procucts
are up to date, open the Coldfusion Administrator. As said before,
when NIS asks, choose, to always allow JRun.exe.
