    Default "Not a Tiff file" error

    I had a recent computer meltdown and had to wipe out the HD and reinstall Pather. Running Photoshop 7.0.1. When I try to open files I get "Can't open because ****.tif is not a valid .tiff file." Same with jpg's, "unknown or invalid jpeg marker type is found." Please help. If I can't get these files open I'm in a world o' hurt.

    Odds are that they're too corrupt to open.

    You can try opening them in other applications and see if you can re-save them, but I wouldn't count on it.

    One such application you should try is Garphic Converter. You can get it through versiontracker:

    <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11559>

    It's shareware and a demo is available.

    Or if it's a newer Mac, Graphic converter may already be installed on your machine.
