Not allowed to edit Helvetica font in distilled PPT slide show using Acrobat?
I'm trying to correct some mispelled words in a PDF document distilled
from a PowerPoint slide show, using Acrobat 5.0, and keep getting an
error message that I can't edit text in that font.
The text is in Helvetica; the document was created, edited and distilled
all on the same Mac iBook under OS 9.2 using PowerPoint from MS Office
2001/Mac and Acrobat 5.0 -- and I think I embedded the fonts when I did
the distillation by printing the PPT presentation to Adobe PDF.
Could this possibly have anything to do with there being two Helvetica
font suitcases on my HD, one in the OS 9.2/System/Fonts folder, one in a
Library/Fonts folder which was initially on the iBook HD when I bought
it several years ago, perhaps in anticpation of a later installation of
OS X?

No, no, definitely full Acrobat (I do various other kinds of editing
with it as well).

That means the font is embedded in the PDF (it isn't called "Helvetica">from a PowerPoint slide show, using Acrobat 5.0, and keep getting an
>error message that I can't edit text in that font.
anymore), but "font subsetting" is turned on.
That means the *complete* font is not in the PDF. Go back to your original
source app to make your changes.
