Default "Not Enough RAM" when copying into Photoshop

I somehow lost the ability to copy & paste from Freehand 10. Has this happened
to anyone else? I?ve had this same problem in the past with earlier versions of
Photoshop & Freehand, but never quite figured out how to solve the problem.
I'm over it!!! I?ve reinstalled both programs and it hasn?t solved the
    problem. See more details below...

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've been having this problem also, at work. My IT guy installed
separate scratch drive just for Photoshop, and that seemed to fix th
problem for a couple months or so until the other day it started doin
it again, so he ordered more memory and will be installing that nex
week...Did you say you tried increasing your virtual memory already
One thing that's working for me right now is just trying to paste it
second or third time if it says no the first, and that's been workin
most of the time. It's pretty frustrating though and I'm sorry I can'
be more help as to why it's doing that; if I find out more I'll let yo
    know

    Munky209,
I can't thank you enough for responding. I posted this more than a week ago
and to my dismay no one had responded! It's hard to believe we're the only ones
dealing with this. My co-worker just got a new machine, and is having the same
problem. Unfortunately, the advice you offered did not work for me, and to
answer your question,YES - my IT guy has already adjusted my virtual memory
    settings. (thanks for the sympathy!!)

What I failed to mention earlier is that my hard drive has 3 partitions. They
are listed below, in the order in which Photoshop scratch disks are set to pull
from. Are your settings similar to mine?

    DRIVE....................TOTAL SIZE.............SPACE AVAIL
    1st: (S:) scratch......13.4GB......................12.6GB
    2nd (S:) scratch......13.4GB......................12.6GB
    3rd (F:) data...........28.4GB......................17.1GB
    4th (C:) local...........8.78GB......................2.55GB

The kicker is that my average file sizes only range from 20MB - 80MB. We're
not talking about massive files here. I can't so much as copy a simple vector
graphic into Photoshop. It's ridiculous!!! Please, isn't there anyone out
there who can help us!?!?!?!?!? This is extremely frustrating... thanks!!!!

    Regards,

Do you have any Norton Utilities or anti-virus utilities running in the
background? There have been a few reports of that affecting copy/paste to
    Photoshop.

This works with FHMX/Photoshop CS. Plain copy from FH uses the Export
Preference setting. Set Preferences > Export > Photoshop 4/5 (which copies
RGB pixels). First do a plain copy to clear the clipboard. Paste that as
pixels into Photoshop. (You can delete the layer later.) Make sure all of
the colors in the FH doent are the same color space as the PS doent.
After clearing the clipboard, copy paths into Photoshop CS using Copy
Special > EPS converting to ... [PS doent color space].

I use a second hard drive as a Photoshop scratch disk and it hasn't affected
things here with FHMX/Photoshop CS. You should have enough available RAM on
your machine to keep FH, clipboard and Photoshop in active memory, not
    virtual memory.

    Judy,
    THAT'S IT!!!!!! (Set Preferences > Export > Photoshop 4/5). I read that
posting that suggested that Norton was the cuprit, but it didn't work for me.

Thank you so much Judy, you just made my life 100% easier, this ordeal has
been really extremely aggravating. This is now the second time you have solved
one of my problems!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!

    Have a great weekend.
