Default Not sure weather to go ai to pdf or elsewhere

I created a business card in illustrator cs to get the initial "vector" quality, but... My printshop does not want it in illustrator. instead, either pdf (I have acrobat 6 professional), or photoshop (I have photoshop 7). My printer left it to me as a 50/50. My question- which would be better quality and why?. . As stated in a previous forum- use another printer which I will probably end up doing, however this guy is around the corner. If I do use him the answers above will be helpful, and I am also wondering how much quality loss if any will I be dealing with.
    thanks

I would go PDF but I see no real reason you can bring it into Photoshop as long as maintain type edibility.

PDF will give you the same vector quality as a native ai file. That's the
way I would go since the printer asked for it. . I'd stay away from
Photoshop, because you will lose your vectors. For Photoshop to retain
vectors, it has to be saved as PDF, so you are back where you started.

You could also save as an EPS, which will also retain vector quality and be
usable with programs that can't handle PDF

I didn't see anyone mention this but you can save your file directly from Illustrator as an Adobe PDF. Sounds like this is what your printer wants. File/Save As, then choose Adobe PDF for file type.

Brian is correct. Or you can do this through the print dialogue of AI CS as well where there is even more control.
