Now do you add a Varnish?
I am newish with Indesign Since moving from Quark.
I am doing a job that needs a Varnish added to the pictures in the Brochure. How would you do this?
Thanks

Re: Now do you add a Varnish?
For the sake of order, create a new layer just for varnish. Duplicate
the graphic frame and fill with any Pantone color. Move to the varnish
layer. Set to overprint.
Tell the printer to substitute the Pantone color with varnish.
I always use a red and then turn on overprint preview. This will give
your pictures a look very similar to Photoshop's quickmask.

Re: Now do you add a Varnish?
Hicks,
I would go into the Swatches palette menu button and choose a New Ink Swatch, and make it a spot color (usually a yellowish or pinkish hue) and name it Varnish. Maybe build a Varnish layer up on top of the Layers palette for any rectangular picture frame shapes that you build and fill with this color. Set the object to overprint in the Attributes palette. Sure, it will be the wrong color onscreen, but it is there to show a clear varnish coat, and on its own layer the filled frames could be toggled on or off for viewing purposes. Since it is a spot defined ink, it will output to its own plate for presswork.

Re: Now do you add a Varnish?
IMO, having it on should be the default. It's for far more than just
varnishes.
