Now that Adobe has bought MM, I am going back to myroots, Visual Studio
Remember Drumbeat from elemental software? When MM bought them, they killed
it and used the best components of it to redo DW. I believe Adobe will strip DW
of many stuff, and repackage Golive with those components, raise the prices and
what have you. I have been looking for a reason to go back to my roots, Visual
Studio and perhaps back to hand coding. I guess I now have a good reason. Hello
VS and someone please hand me a crying towel for another good tool going down
in the name of 'merger' Cheers, assigned

There's no doubt that DW will undergo changes, but one thing that Studio
cannot do is have those handy DW extensions. I like the idea of being able
to build a menu by using a GUI, and letting it write the js and css code to
make the menu work. Studio may have things built into it like that, but it
isn't open to 3rd party people like PVII who can come up with items that
users want and need.

Different ball game. MM bought into the Elemental software engineers. DB had
reached its sell-by-date, so Ultradev evolved. I can't really see Adobe
doing much with DW. I mean, they wouldn't want to alienate 2 milliom +
users... would they?

Visual studio? Crap.
The only reason to go with Visual Studio is if you are doing .net work, in
which case it's kind of your only option.
I use it daily but would never consider it enjoyable. ;o)

Re: Now that Adobe has bought MM, I am going back to myroots, Visual Studio
That's exactely my point. Adobe will most likely close those paths and
repackage them as another tool to be licensed. How many Adobe tools can you
hook into? I wish MM had bought Adobe and Adobe buying.... Anyway, only time
will tell, but I don't see Adobe killing their own tool Golive in favor DW and
I don't see them keeping the too. It's easier for Adobe to phase out DW 'cos,
Golive is deeply integrated into their other desktop publishing tools like
Photoshop etc. Breaking those apart is going to be more difficult than simply
taking the best of DW and adding it to bloated Golive. One tool that will most
likely go first is Fireworks becuase it competes with Adobe bread and butter
Photoshop, and Adobe has other tools aimed at the Fireworks audience who just
want quick navigations like you. So you might as well start learning java
scripts. I don't want to sound gloomy, but I have seen this type of mergers
several times and I don't see this playing out any diffirently. Golive bundled
with PH and a few other tools costs over $1000.00 (more money ) than the measly
$600 for Dw studio. Cheers, assigned

You have obviously never heard of filters in Photoshop which are developed
by third parties in exactly the same way as extensions are done.
