I have a similar size changing problem with bringing images with effects from FW (MX) into FL (MX). Studio MX, Mac OSX 1.0.2.6.

I would prefer to just copy/paste from FW to FL (I explain why below). However, whenever I try and do this with an image that has an effect applied (IE. drop shadow), the image gains some extra space around it - usually 3 pixels in both the x and y direction. Even copying in FW and then creating a new FW file and pasting the image into that new file leaves extra pixels around the image - the pasted image comes into the new empty file at x=3, y=3. The image itself stays the same size, it's just the extra space which then causes problems in FL, which is going off of the top left corner for positioning.

Anyone have any ideas on how to workaround this using the copy/paste method? I tried doing a canvas trim after repositioning the pasted image to 0,0 in the new FW file, but it still comes in with a 3 pixel "air space" around it when copying from that new FW file into FL. I'm kinda stumped?

I have FW resolution set to 72. I don't know how to set FL's resolution. I looked into what Mark had suggested about changing that in Prefs, but it seems his advice was for FL5. In FLMX there is no Prefs under the Edit menu. In the FLMX Prefs there is a panel called "Clipboard" which does have a resolution box for "PICT Settings", but 1) this might only be on Mac, and 2) I'm not sure if this is actually setting the resolution for the FL file as much as it is just effecting the resolution of what's pasted from the clipboard? In either case, I don't know how to get around this addition of this "air space" when using copy/paste. I look forward to any further info.

OPTIONAL INFO
For anyone who's interested, below is my conclusions on FW to FL options for images...

My workflow is that I will layout a page in FW and then bring those page elements into FL for the final page/site.

I have found three main methods of moving files from FW to FL.
1) Export/Import SWF --> best for entire FW file - raster and vector
2) Export/Import PNG --> best for individual raster images that remain linked in FL
3) Copy/Paste & Drag/Drop --> quickest for rasters with no effects
4) Copy/Paste as Vectors --> quickest for editable vectors/text

EXPORT/IMPORT SWF
I have tried numerous methods of doing this and the most accurate one is to export the FW file as a SWF - this has always worked flawlessly. The only problem is that I end up with either a lot of SWF files (one for each FW revision) or if I just revise in FW and save over the previously exported SWF, I end up having to delete a lot of redundant images that come into FL.

EXPORT/IMPORT PNG
This works great for individual raster images, with effects or not. Also, a great extra benefit is that images imported into FL this way remain linked. If you revise the original PNG, as long as you keep the name and path the same, you can click "update" in Flash to automatically update all occurances of that image in the FL movie.

COPY/PASTE & DRAG/DROP
This is by far the quickest and has worked very well with rasters (bitmaps) going from FW to FL. I don't think I've ever had the need to go the other way - FL to FW? Images come over at exactly the same size every time. It doesn't seem to matter whether I copy/paste or drag/drop, the outcome is always the same.

Where this method has a problem is when I try to copy/paste images with effects applied (IE. drop shadows). As I mentioned above, this method always adds extra pixel "air space" around the image when pasted into FL or another FW file. I'm not sure why or how to get around it?

COPY/PASTE AS VECTORS
This is the best one to use for vectors and text. Everything comes over as editable vectors and text in FL.

Hope someone finds this info useful.
