object page assciation
This is a simple question, but I can't seem to figure it out myself:
How do you know/control the association of objects to pages? In other words,
how do you know what page an object is on(technically speaking)? If I select a
page and attempt to delete it, it will tell me if there are objects on the
page. If I move the page it will move the objects associated with it. The
problem is, whenever I have more than one page, I always end up with a mess of
objects associated with pages they are nowhere near. How do I even know when
I'm creating an object what page it will be "on"?
Hope that makes sense.
TIA

Re: object page assciation
When you draw an object on a page it associates the the currently active
page. Are you working with the Preferences > Document > 'Changing view sets
the active page' and 'Using tools sets active page' checked?
To find all objects on current page, unlock and show all layers. Select All
(Cmd-A) will select all objects on the current page.

yes; both mentioned options are active. Could you explain what exactly they
mean? What do you mean by "active page"? As selected in the Document panel?
Suppose I wanted to move an object from one page to anther, how do I do this?
If I select the object it will set the active page in the document panel to
whatever page it is on, but if(while object is selected) I click on a different
page in the doc panel, it does not appear to move the object because as soon as
i deselect and re-select it goes back to the original page.

bottom of window. It will also be highlighted in the Document panel.
Cut from one page. Move to the target page using the page selector in the> Suppose I wanted to move an object from one page to anther, how do I do this?
status bar. Paste.

Re: object page assciation
Ah, I must have been mistaken, selecting objects than navigating via the
Document panel does indeed move objects to different pages, much like using the
layer panel.
This reminds me of another recurring problem: how do you paste-in-place? ie> Cut from one page. Move to the target page using the page selector in the

the pasted objects resides in the EXACT same position as the original object?
Reason I would want to do this is so I can be assured to objects are align
properly. The other option would be if I can align one object to another, not
two objects to each other. ie object A is aligned according to object B, and
object B does not move or anything.

ALSO:
an object has an X,Y coordinates, does it have a 'degrees' property somewhere to indicate the angle it is at?

Behind. Note that this pastes to the same _pasteboard coordinates_ as the
object that was copied or cut, so it does not paste to the equivalent
position on a different page.
Lock one object. Select both objects. Align. Unlock the locked object.> Reason I would want to do this is so I can be assured to objects are align

You can use keyboard shortcuts or toolbar icons for all of these operations.

FH should have this feature built in. Get Michael Slomski's Angle Xtra. You> an object has an X,Y coordinates, does it have a 'degrees' property somewhere

can find it on Ian Kelleigh's site, FreeHandSouce.com. Unfortunately the
site seems to be down at the moment.

If you open the Info Toolbar, it will give you a readout of the angle during
rotation and drawing with line tool.

Nice. Now how does one lock a particular object? Or did you simply mean lock the layer it's on?
Thanks!

If you leave the info toolbar open, there's a lock status icon which
displays the lock status for the selected object.

Re: object page assciation
Aball,
You can "paste-in-place" by selecting any other object in the document
and using the 'Paste in Front' or the 'Place Behind' command. This
preserves the exact coordinates of the pasted object. Personally, I like
to use custom toolbar buttons for those operations.

Seems Judy just told you about that, though. I suppose I ought to finish
reading a thread before I reply to it, eh? ;-}
