Default ODBC agent service started and stopped

    Hi all

I know this question has been asked a few times before, but none of the
solutions have worked for me. I am using CF7 with XPsp2.

Basically, the ODBC agent and ODBC server services will not start. If I open
the services.msc as soon as windows starts they are both 'stopping'.Then stop!

I have tried reinstalling numerous times.

I have tried deleting the tracing files.

I have tried updating sequelink version.

I have tried opening ports 19995-19998 (I think they were)

I cannot even get the administrator to start after these services have stopped
    soon after windows startup....

Anyone please have any other ideas? doing my head in seriously....

    Thanks in advance

I think I have it worked out if anyone is interested.

I had error reporting turned off in my computer properties. I turned them on
to see what they could come up with (shouldve turned them on first...) ,
restarted and the ODBC services started.....

Thats all I did. Makes no sense to me, but I'm not complaining.

Default Re: ODBC agent service started and stopped

I was a bit too hasty in my conclusions.....it still isn't working. the error
log came up with the following upon reboot...

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Agent )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see
Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Agent@LOCALHOST,ErrorCode=430,ErrorMessage=Failed to open
event trace file because the file version is not recognised..

    and the coldfusion-event.log had this

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC
Agent ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary
registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a
remote computer. The following information is part of the event:
    ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Agent@LOCALHOST,ErrorCode=430,ErrorMessage=Failed
to open event trace file because the file version is not recognised..
