    Default ODBC Connection Problem CFMX7

I am upgrading from ColdFusion MX 6.1 Server to ColdFusion MX 7 Server
(Standard). The Server OS is Windows 2003 Server (Standard Edition) and IIS 6
    with current patches.

After installation I tried to verify the existing ?antiques?, ?casestudy?,
cfsnippets, CompanyInfor, exampleapps and webstore DSNs for Microsoft Access
databases and received the following error message:

?Connection verification failed for data source: antiques
    java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver]TCP/IP error,
    connection refused.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC
    Driver]TCP/IP error, connection refused.?

When I clicked on a link for a particular database DSN the following message
    was displayed:

?The ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Server service is not running or has not been
installed. You may also use the "MS Access with Unicode" driver to connect to
    MS Access datasources.?

I checked the ?ColdFusion ODBC Server Services? and determined that neither
the ?ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Server or the ?ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Agent? were
running. When I tried to restart either one on the Server, I received the
    following message:

?The ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Server service on Local Computer started and then
stopped. Some services stop atomically if they have no work to do, for
example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service.

Please provide information on how to resolve this problem.

    Than you.

I am running ColdFusion MX 7 (not an upgrade) and I've recently started getting
    the same error.

The site ran fine for a week, then out of the blue began giving this error:
[Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver]TCP/IP error, connection refused.

I am using a MySQL database through an ODBC Socket. When I try to edit the
datasource, I get the following error: The ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Server service
is not running or has not been installed.

When I checked the list of services, ColdFusion MX ODBC Server & Agent are not
running. Starting those services generates the message about the services
    starting then stopping.

Nothing has changed on the server. What would cause this, and why after all
this time of running fine? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as the client
is breathing down my neck. This is a production server!

    Thanks, Yisroel

I'm having the same problem as Yisroel and the knowledgebase article
mentioned by tzimmerman doesn't quite fix this problem -- the
executables appear to be in the db\slserver54 directory instead of
slserver52. The installation batch file appears to be trying to
register files in the 52 directory.

My next attempt will be to copy the executables into the 52 directory
    as a workaround...

    Hi Brandon,

I have found a solution to the problem, see the other thread regarding this
    issue:

Is this truly a solution, or a workaround. I am hearing that some are
experiencing this issue every 3-4 days. In this case, this is a workaround to
    temporarily fix the symptom.

Has anyone else heard that this might be a recurring problem?

    Thanks,
    Danny
