ODBC Server service hanging

We've been having an issue with the connection to an AS/400 data source. It
keeps hanging or failing. Our network guys attempt to stop all the web and
Cold Fusion services that are running on the server, and re-start them manually
to see if everything returns to normal operation. The CF ODBC service could
not be stopped manually, it hangs up during the manual stop process. The
service's status will change to "stopping" but never goes to "stopped" like
the others do.

After it times out, we get the following message.."Could not stop Cold Fusion
MX7 ODBC Server service on this computer. Error 1053: The service did not
respond to a statemnet or control request in a timely fashion."

They end up re-booting the server. Anyone come across this issue, any
suggestions to resolve.
