offending operator "nary"

Upon opening a file for a catalog I am working on an error came on the screen. It said:

offending operator "nary"
Content:
XH
%AI5_End Raster
F
%_/ArtDictionary

Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an illegal or misplaced operator.

Could someone please tell me what this means? Did my file corrupt or is there some way to retrieve it? Only part of the file opens as of now. This is something that I have been working on for multiple weeks and have save and opened many times before. Any solutions or suggestions?

Oh yeah, I forgot to include that this is in Ill. CS and the file was originally from ill. 10 but I have saved it in CS many times before this error occured.

it doesn't sound good, but I had a similar issue with a freehand file. I
ditched the prefs and it opened - mostly (enough to save all the important
bits). you could also try placing the file.
