Offset path problem
I have some customer supplied ai files, some saved in v 3, some in v9.
Selecting an object I go to the menu object >path > offset path which is set to miter, offset .05 and miter limit 4.
In several files when I do an offset, it not only does an offset, but an inset as well. I've checked the prefs, have the stroke cap to offset cap.
When the offset is complete the miters on acute angles are clipped and I get but caps. When I type text and covert to outlines, or draw an object and do an offset with the same parameters in the same file, I get what I want - a a single offset with no clipped corners.
I've checked to see if anything in the file was compounded, none are, even tried expanding the object which did not help.
I seem to run across this occasionally and am getting tired of cleaning up all the unwanted lines.
Any idea what's causing this, and how to correct it? Running in v10.3 on 0SX. Saved one file in v6, one in v3 with no difference.
