old bios 2 gb limit - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

Hi NG. I have a old AST MS BRAVO 5133, with an 1996 2 gb IDE HD limit. How to make use of my 4 GB HD in that machine....

    How to make use of my 4 GB HD in that machine.

    Split it in to 2 -3 partitions and install a linux distro.

    Yep, that could be a good idea, thought about booting from
    floppy, once the kernel is up, there should be no problem
    accessing the hd.

    Well the kernel wtites that hda is 4 gb. But df writes it is 2gb.

    delete the partitions, and create partitions using fdisk.
    (when installing, you can use something like ctrl-alt-f2, alt-f3, etc to get
    to a console and run fdisk /dev/hda ... and delete the old partitions and
    create new partitions)
