On 2nd day, trial version won't start

I'm trying to find a good animation program for the Mac OSX (10.2), and since I
liked Director 7 on the PC, I thought I'd investigate the current version of
Director. Yesterday it worked fine for a beta, with only a few crashes, but
today it won't even get past the "do you want to start a new project or open an
old one" dialog. Any suggestions?
P.S.: I notice that the trial counter still says that I have 30 days, when I
was expecting it to say 29 (it hasn't been 24 hour yet, though). Is that a
hint of the problem?
