one-click creation of low resolution copy for preview purposes
Hi,
I work in prepress and we quite often have to create lores-copies of the high res-pdfs to email to customers.
Now I wonder if there is some simpler way than using PDF Optimizer which still requires three clicks and some keyboard-entering (as judging from experience it is requisite to signify the low resolution in the file-name).
I tried utilizing Preflight Fixups to downsize and add a suffix but that overwrites the original so I would have to first copy the pdf ...
A quick search of this forum and some googling didn’t turn up anything useful, so any suggestions for improving that process are very welcome.
Have a nice day

Why not alt-drag (copy) the PDF into a folder being monitored by a
preflight fix-up droplet?
You can have downsampling and renaming of the file as a one-step process
(plus lots, lots more) ;-)

Thanks for the reply, Jon.
Sounds good but actually I don’t know how to set up a watched folder for an Acrobat-droplet.
Could You give me another hint there?

Re: one-click creation of low resolution copy for preview purposes
Go Acrobat / Advanced / Preflight / (build you fixup) and look at the
OPTIONS category on the right / Create Preflight Droplet

Thanks for the reply.
I had gotten that far, but how can I set up a watched folder?
The only options I found allow for moving or copying the fixed pdf to the Success- or Error-folders.

Re: one-click creation of low resolution copy for preview purposes
You didn't mention a hot-folder in your original post .... you must drag
and drop onto the droplet. I think you're trying to emulate Distiller as
such?
There are other systems which can automate the task such as Enfocus
Pitstop Server (www.enfocus.com) or PDF Toolbox Server (www.callas.de) ...

Re: one-click creation of low resolution copy for preview purposes
Ah, little misunderstanding ...
I thought You meant that hot-folders are an option for droplets in Your first post:
»Why not alt-drag (copy) the PDF into a folder being monitored by a preflight fix-up droplet?«
Thanks for the answers anyway.
