One-way network? -- lost visibility in other direction
I have a computer running XP home edition with a wireless connection
to a Netgear router. The Netgear router connects to a cable modem and
a 2nd computer that's running Win98SE. The XP can't see the Win98
computer on the network. I can ping it by name or IP address OK, but
Net View returns system error 51 for both the name and IP address. The
Win98 computer sees the XP computer OK
File and print sharing are turned on on the Win98 computer. NetBios is
not enabled--the option is greyed out on the TCP/IP tab.
I set the network up on the new XP about a week ago and it created a
setup disk that I ran on the Win98 computer. It was working fine for
a few days.
Any help would be appreciated.

to recognize the Win98 computer?

"Windows cannot find the network path. Verify that the network path is
correct and the destination computer is not busy or turned off. If
Windows still cannot find the network path, contact your network
administrator." That's not very helpful. :-(
It sounds like a NetBIOS problem, all right. It could also be a
bindings problem. On Win98, go to TCP/IP->NIC | Properties | Bindings
and make sure that the boxes for "Client for Microsoft Networks" and
"File and Printer Sharing" are checked.
Disable and un-install all firewall programs while troubleshooting.
