Opacity problem - Max to w3d - Macromedia Director 3D

I can add a texture to a box then apply a opacity map so part of it is transparent. This shows up correct in Max but the opacity map doesn't show when exported to w3d. Are there any special requirments for exporting an opacity map to w3d? Thanks Michael...

If you´re trying to export a lightmap on channel 2 of Max, then yes,
there are a lot of requirements. If you´re just trying to export a box
with a texture that has alpha channel, then you just have to set its
renderFormat to #rgba8888 within Director after exporting it (you´ll see
it opaque in Max´s SW3D preview).

    Michael,

The opacity maps you set up in Max are not exported to w3d. The way to get
transparency in textures is to create your diffuse map image with an alpha
channel (gif or tif) - this won't show the transparency in Max (the
transparent areas will show as black) but once exported the transparency
will show in the w3d file.
